Monday's Happenings

July 27th - 9:15 am Denver time -- 6:15 pm Addis Ababa time
I just got done talking with Denise again, and here is today's update:

Denise and Girma stayed at Sele Enat until about an hour after lunch. At lunch Girma ate a ton of rice, but saved his last 2 bites for Denise. All the kids there, from 2 to 13 yrs old, worked together and looked out for each other like a family. The older kids loved taking pictures of Denise & Girma with our camera. Denise says everyone is so nice and she doesn't feel alone. She wondered if Girma would be too sad to come back tomorrow and had Hannah (the director at Sele Enat) to ask Girma. He said he wanted to come back and play with his friends. :0)

Girma loves his play phone, keeping busy pushing the buttons. That's all I could here in the background noise. He is also very coordinated and loves playing with bouncy balls, catching and throwing.

Sele Enat is a wonderful place where the kids are truly loved and well cared for. But, it is a very small campus that they are renting, and currently are having a sewage backup problem. Maybe we could add this to the November fundraising event? The kids are taught English and how to use forks and other skills that will help them adapt to America.

Another interesting note is that all the compounds are walled and protected by barbed wire, some with glass shards sticking out of the concrete.

I hope to fly out tomorrow and be there by Wednesday night. Keep the good thoughts going for us!
Steve

Great news!! Sounds amazing! Maybe you couldn't go initially so you could bring an extra bag or two (maybe one filled with bubble gum) with you when you go! :) I'm on-call and waiting for the "Livingston Limo" to pick you up and take you to DIA!

Love,

Jeff
